July 25, 2009 Here in the northeastern United States we've had an extremely rainy spring and summer. Whenever the sun emerges it seems like a precious gift rather than simple business as usual. The Sparkling Lotus garden beds have become a lush jungle-like tangle of healing herbs and beloved flowers. And so much inclement weather has given me extra time to devote to re-ordering the SL mother stock inventory. Each bottle is carefully dusted with a cloth that's dipped in sea salt for extra cleansing and protection. The sheer number of different mother stocks on hand makes this task a lengthy endeavor. Every year the impending process feels daunting to contemplate but, once I'm actually immersed in it, I greatly enjoy taking mindful time to actively appreciate the contents of each individual bottle. Handling these precious healing and illumination allies prompts me to remember the co-creative details of so many different wild-crafted and cultivated essence preparations. This in turn encourages me to stay connected to a positive view of our irreplaceable Mother, the earth, and the wide variety of sentient beings that call her their home. As I work with the mother stocks I've been keeping a list of remedies that need replenishing. The rainy weather hasn't allowed much opportunity for that part of the yearly process. And so a few of the most popular remedies have become especially valuable resources. The limited nature of their availability is a potent mirror for the ebb and flow of other resources that are so important to life on this planet.
