ROUGH SYNPOSIS:
This Handbook is the first volume of a
Flower Medicine Trilogy which I hope
to have completed by Summer 2007. It
relates to the electrical properties of
flower medicine, most commonly
known as essences or remedies.
The book is designed to serve as both
a healing companion and a viable
learning & application guide. The
materia medica section covers more
than 300 flower profiles. Roughly half
of these relate to my personally
prepared Sparkling Lotus repertory of
single essences and blends.

Handbook's target audience of research participants

My very dear medicine brother, Doug Luzar, has agreed to be
my First Reader. As a gifted medicine maker of many kinds,
he is mainly familiar with flower essences through me and the
Sparkling Lotus series. [eta: I've since hooked him into Green
Hope Farm uber-essences as well...] This slim amount of
technical awareness (and plenty of the SL medicine swimming
around in his bloodstream) makes him an ideal candidate for
testing the clarity of the writing as a serious and practical
teaching tool.
His considerable knowledge in related fields (as well as
extremely gifted healing abilities) also makes him a good
judge of how effectively I've merged the various filaments of
corresponding material (e.g. stone medicine, practical client-
healer tips, esoteric overviews, metaphysical references, etc.)
in each profile. He knows me, my Life's Work intentions, my
shortcomings and strengths *and* my style of writing well
enough to serve as a uniquely perfect advisor for any changes
that may need to be made as part of the second printing.
In the meantime, I'm really pleased to be offering sale copies
of the limited first edition to all former research participants,
students past & present, and all the rest of my life's most
interested bystanders. This Handbook is an outgrowth of the
first Sparkling Lotus research project. It was conducted for five
years - during our collectively turbulent and oh so interesting
times of 1998 until 1003. In the first three years of the project I
prepared roughly 150 flower essences and blends. About 125
of these are profiled in the Handbook. It also contains an
additional 175+ flower essence profiles. These include
established remedies that represent the repertories of most
major essence companies, a number of indigenous
northeastern US plants, and an important cadre of traditional
Teacher Plants/entheogens and other indigenously sacred
botanicals. If you know me personally then you will be assured
that I've prepared the profiles with a fair degree of thought-full
depth and a strong eye towards the emerging purposes and
needs of healing/ personal evolution here on the changed cusp
of a New Millennium.
The 300 profiles are arranged and structured to be of use as a
practical teaching resource and comprehensive self-healing
companion. They're also designed to be a healing resource for
essence practitioners and other complimentary healers of all
levels. Special focus has been given to deconstructing the
behavior mechanisms that remain problematic and at times
somewhat punishing for our species. Further focus is given to
the evolutionary enhancement qualities of the remedies.
Each flower profile contains a specific set of healing and
enhancement rubrics as well as considerable insights based
on my personal experiences as a lifelong plant reader and the
very generous feedback from many of the profoundly gifted &
insightful research participants.
Below read Doug Luzar's impressions of the essences and the
Handbook text he's read so far.
"I have had the good fortune to be sampling some of the wares
of Sparkling Lotus Essences now for a couple of months.
Flower Essences are not something I had worked with before,
or even had much knowledge of. I knew they existed and that
they operated on subtle bodies and levels. Acey has given me
the Honor of asking me to be the first person to read the
manuscript for the Essences.
From the profiles for the Essences, I have learned alot about
the plants themselves, and, more importantly, the Spirit of the
Plants themselves. I particularly like the
stories that come from Acey's interaction with her garden, the
beds where these Essences were born. I also like that under
the name of the Plant, there is the number correlation to the
Chakra system and which Chakras would gain the most
benefit.
For me, who has not much knowledge of the Plants, that is a
big help. I like to keep the chakras all stimulated to some
degree if I happen to be working with one or two in particular,
to keep the energy flowing thru properly.
From the Essences themselves, I have gained knowledge of
the Plants in my own garden, however meager that may be. I
haven't had much time at all this year to work in it, so only have
some Sage and Sweetgrass, and some Tomatoes and
Peppers growing. But, from having the benefit of the SL
Essences, particularly the Elecampane, in my bloodstream
and electrical field, I have been more sensitive to them and
their needs.
And the Violet Queen Cleome has helped me to deal with
some energy blockages I had been carrying with me for a long
time, thus freeing more energy for use at a practical level. I
start every day off with a "power shake" - a little of this and a
little of that. It changes pretty much day to day, by
what I feel energetically will be of help."

MORE ABOUT THE HANDBOOK
For those who are new to this mailing list, or may have
forgotten, the relatively low profit margin built into the book’s
cost is being directly recirculated. By that I mean the extra
money is applied to ongoing printing costs and maintenance of
the generalized Sparkling Lotus outreach network rather than
my personal spending fund. For every 4-5 volumes sold I’m
able to produce an additional copy of the book. This "extra
child" can then be gifted to someone who richly deserves it.
Significant members of the Handbook’s established gift list
have been promised a copy of the research project’s findings
as a gesture of respect & gratitude for personal mentoring.
These are nearly all individuals I’ve worked with in professional
capacities – most usually in direct or ancillary healing
programs devoted to the needs of incest/sexual abuse
survivors. All have pledged to consider the work seriously
enough to begin thinking of ways they might apply the
information to the emergent needs of their clients. Other
comparable colleagues are known to me through two decades
worth of suicide prevention work. The exceptions in this
generalized category have impressed me quite deeply with
their expertise & skill in healing fields where I needed to
surrender my own physical vulnerability or trust them to
properly handle a similar surrender from someone dear to me...
Once I reach the end of the gift list, if we have not first reached
the end of the limited first edition Handbook, I’ll then begin
providing gratis copies to wellness and counseling resource
centers where flower essences are employed as an
established healing modality. These are places I’ve not
selected so much as I’ve been made aware that angels
believe I shouldn’t fear to tread in their specified direction.
I want to stress the particular path of surrender to divine
guidance this year’s writing & production journey has taken...
Every single copy of the Handbook that’s purchased deeply
‘matters’ to the overall process of how many people have an
opportunity to inter-relate with the material in this particular
form. When interested bystander type folks ask me why I didn’t
make a bigger effort to "have it be a real book" I always reply
that it hasn’t been an either/or choice for me but a matter of
first things first.
Given the opportunity & motivation through Spirit’s grace, I
could not deny myself the experience of having the book’s form
and its contents feel as real as it ever could be from my
personal perspective. My entire conscious life has been
dedicated to improving and amplifying a grassroots life
philosophy. Why would I not be asked by Divinity to prove the
depth of that dedication through this specific form of highly
loving one-at-a-time distribution? In many ways it’s become the
second official Sparkling Lotus outreach campaign.
A lot of times I think it’s not so much the self-publishing that’s
unsettling to folks. It seems to be a lot more about the [very
hokey to some] three ring binder concept. The further
admission that angelic guidance has led me to embrace it has
struck a few on this mailing list as proof middle age has
blighted me with an extremely unsophisticated lack of
internalized editing capacity. "Don’t keep saying that," one well-
meaning friend-to-Sparkling-Lotus-land advised. "People will
start thinking, y’know, you’re a flake." Start thinking? Wow.
Apparently I’ve been seriously over-estimating myself for years.
In other arenas of more serious objection I’d like to introduce
the etheric imprint of my husband in his somewhat over-
reactionary guise of copyright obsessed songwriter. The more
I share concrete details of my immediate & unfolding plans, the
more visibly twitchy and ‘concerned for my welfare’ he
becomes. And that’s all about the mere concept of writing an
entire book that is then three hole punched -- thus more or less
inviting unscrupulous Others to copy and profit from all my love’
s laboring.
Largely for his peace of mind, and its enormous influence upon
my own, I’m adding a copyright footer on all the even
numbered pages. More privately I think it’s atrocious and a
little embarrassing to keep drawing attention to any sense of
‘ownership’ or linear-ego attachment I may hold. All the same, I’
m affirmed in the choice. Angelic counsel has applauded this
self-led decision with the insight that it would also provide a
relatively low-key reminder to walk a good road for anyone
along the way who might be tempted towards exploitation. Just
so you know that’ll be part of the deal and why before you
actually have to look at it. Over and over again, since there’s
so many pages. Heh. What did anyone think. I’d be BRIEF in
all of this??
I’ve never shared a formalized articulation of this not-so-
superficial aspect of the printed finding’s chosen presentation
and I’m beginning to find that remiss. For a long time I have
experienced meditational and dream visions of the book in
three ring binder form. I am usually shown various ways the
basic text has been altered and elaborated upon with-in
different individualized processes of customization.
That is, every book of "mine" will in time become more
authentically the book/intellectual property of someone else.
EVERYBODY has an opportunity to begin amassing a tangible
archive of their own inner warehouses of expertise and inter-
disciplinary questions, discoveries, and insights but, obviously
enough, this method will be most usefully employed by those
who actually crave such an undertaking without knowing where
to begin and/or how to maintain a disciplined relationship to
their aspirations.
The system I’ve devised will be most diligently embraced,
more than likely, by my private students and within Unknown
self-teaching campaigns. But I hope it will also be an ongoing
invitation to All who purchase a copy of this book. For this
reason every copy of the text comes in an oversized binder
amended with some blank loose-leaf paper and an
introductory sheet full of customization suggestions. You don’t
get to choose about that part as I originally stated last March. It’
s grown very clear in the ensuing months that this specific
format is how the angels would most like the Limited First
Edition to be presented. It’s also how my most authentic best
intentions are moved from personal theory to a more organic
state of released practice...

On November 7th I attended David
Dalton's eighth annual Flower Essence
Practitioner's conference. I was thrilled by
his invitation to present information on this
project and thoroughly enjoyed both the
content and the fellowship of the
conference. Although the time was very
limited I managed to introduce the topic of
the Lost Flower Tribe *and* the collective
empowerment that's intended by the
Handbook's limited first edition and my
surrender to its spirit-driven distribution.
Due to the interest promoted by this swift
intro to Sparkling Lotus-land, I created a
mini-newsletter that was geared towards
filling in some of the blanks created by my
sudden brief appearance on the larger
landscape.

BUT...
It's true that I didn't ask him to say anything
on my implied/promotional behalf BUT...I
certainly don't mind sharing what he
supplied unprompted!
"I usually show up in Acey's life because I
need healing and connection to my roots.
Those privileged with her friendship will
understand this process normally involves
an over-indulgence of soul nourishment
and tactile pampering. How differently she
began to respond back in the March of '04
when her brain held two main categories of
Motherhood and Book Writing. So I have
been a bit of a jealous sibling to the book
as well as an annoying older brother in
spirit to Acey. In either role I am always
inclined towards lots of hands-on kitbitzing.
As one of the most nomadic and
personally fractured people among the
Sparkling Lotus 'ORIGINAL 13' research
participants, I have felt a sense of pride far
greater than the joke of sibling rivalry.
Reading over Acey's shoulder I had some
moments of amazement for this was my life
or at least its themes taking on a new
shape and some genuine transpersonal
healing dimensions. Separate incidents of
duly recorded Nick-ness held their space
within a larger collaborative frame. The
web is just as Acey has ordained it to be;
alive and humming with electrical flower
remedies!
In this same spirit of awareness I saw all
the most agonizing personal anecdotes
held at bay and left unspoken. Water in a
very deep well reflects the cosmic void
rather than better kept secrets. From this
rare insider's prespective, I believe this
book holds massive integrity in what it
omits as well as what it reveals.
Sometimes over the past seven or eight
months I've read printouts of flower profiles
that stirred very powerful emotion. Other
times I was freshly inspired by what I read
or set to thinking in a different way. Acey's
gifts as a writer, teacher and healer
crystallize as her willingness to be
followed; if not anywhere then at least to
places many of us might not go alone or
even with a guide who was any less skilled
or sensitized.
Nowadays I also kibitz long distance by
keeping a close eye on this website's
mushrooming evolution. I like looking at
the flower pictures and floating on my
memories. I'm also impressed that Acey
has avoided much overlap or repetition
between this website and the info covered
in the flower essence Handbook. Without
question her vast awareness of flowers will
give us plenty of 'grazing material' as the
site continues to bloom in deeper fulfillment
of her intentions for it. I might add that I
like and applaud the way the site's
continued development is reflected in the
Acey-powered benefit quilt project for
Jeannine Parvati. The quilt itself is an
incredible masterpiece of visionary
inter-tribal art.
Any application of beneficial return from
Natural Law and the Way of Love is a
beautiful bird but I think Sparkling Lotus Ink
is showing & teaching some illuminated
highlights from Acey's numerous learning
excursions with especially nice flair and
dare I say a little groove extraordinaire."
Sparkling Lotus Bio: Nick Black is a
devoted friend and protector to his favorite
Little Sister, Alicia Russell-Smith. He's the
single and thought-fully celibate father of 3
very headstrong young women of the world.
He's also a lapsed man of the cloth, a
somewhat radical eco-activist and a
tree-hugging environmental engineer. He
started using flower essences in his early
20's as advised by AMR-S.
"I'm not an expert on why," Nick says. "I
just comprehend these remedies are
profoundly effective in ways that have
touched and improved all aspects of the
past quarter century." Periodically he
sends his Little Sister a new batch of
