It's a fact of new millennium life that we're all finding more and more
opportunities to streamline our behavior and thought process.    We're
also given a lot of chances to prove to ourselves that we've learned
valuable lessons that need not be repeated.  Clearly, the necessity of
repetition is not determined by our own lip service or even our hopeful
ideals.  It is determined by the KARMIC REALITY of how we live our
life and that includes all the aspects of our consciousness which we
normally overlook or deny.

TEN SIMPLE WAYS TO GET IN BETTER BALANCE WITH
SELF & UNIVERSE

1.  Stop treating your guides like a childhood imaginary friend to be
blamed or otherwise held responsible for all thoughts, actions and
words that cause inner disturbance, uncertainty, or a compulsion to
distance one's intentions from the message itself and/or how it's
conveyed.    See below for a few more thoughts on the closely related
subject of Spiritual Guide/linear ego confusion.

2.  Recognize that 'guides' are always a part of one's higher self.  This
means they are not separate or prone to their own states of whimsy.
Inner guidance will ALWAYS trounce outwardly gained versions of the
same thing - at least at a cellular level.  The less you trust yourself, the
more you rely on outside opinion of whatever stripe.  The more you
rely on outside opinion, the less clearly one's own inner guidance can
be observed or manifested.  Bluntly put:  the less you trust yourself, the
less trustworthy you become.

3.  Accept that cosmic flow works on its own volition rather than any
individual human intention or desire.  In other words, it isn't karma's job
to cut us a break or grade us on a curve.  It's OUR job to be fully and
authentically 'prepared for class'.

4.  Study yourself in the mirror as a form of standing meditation.
Observe your reflection in the spirit of acceptance rather than criticism.
I especially advise this practice when someone isn't feeling too kindly
towards themselves  or their place/actions within the larger world -
when something has been said or done that makes us feel squeamish
in mind/belly or  at odds with our heart center.  The harder it is to stand
still and simply look at yourself, the more you'll benefit from forcing
yourself through various levels of dismissal or aversion.

5.   FACT:   The emotions of fear and anger exist in all human beings.
The more firmly you believe they 'shouldn't' be emotional components
of your energy field, the more one or both emotions is likely to run your
inter-dimensional program and a rather [un!]healthy percentage of your
internalized and/or inter-personal tape loops.    Since this item quite
often applies to folks who believe they are "not supposed" to operate
from the ego, either, I often point out that refusing to acknowledge fear
and anger is *extremely* ego driven.  If that goes well, I may move on
to discussion of the differences between linear and spiritual ego -
particularly the fact that one can't function very well without the other.
BOTH must be in operational existence, along with a full working
spectrum of human emotion.  In other words:  You can't 'get over' fear
or anger (or for that matter the troublesome actions and opinions of
linear ego) if you don't first fully acknowledge and accept their
existence.

6.  Excuses are a human coping mechanism.  Learn how to identify
your own excuse making habits and then patiently disengage them.
Further learn the truth of taking self-responsibilty.  HINT:   The process
doesn't begin and end with the verbal announcement that you're
'owning' your actions.  That's just running-out-of-steam new age lip
service.   Please get over it.  Your energy field and those who must
inter-act with you will be extremely grateful!

7.  Yardstick comparisons between self and others usually deter
spiritual growth and illumination rather than complimenting it.
Yardstick mentality can be particularly alienating when it is outwardly
expressed - such as undercutting the value of someone else's
experience by announcing why the same thing would never work for
you, etc.

8.  Be smart about how you acquire your spiritual and philosophical
information.  Save money to spend on a REPUTABLE
class/workshop/seminar experience rather than relying primarily on
cheaper Store Gurus for your education.     Also avoid lemming-like
attachments to the latest spiritual crazes.   Re-consider the educational
benefits of working with someone who is highly dogmatic, rigidly
superficial, or otherwise unable to provide solid answers to your
questions and emergent spiritual needs.

9.  Check all current and potential teachers for inclusion on PLASTIC
SHAMAN lists here on the internet or through your most local
inter-tribal council.   IMMEDIATELY disband teaching/learning
programs with anyone who is on these lists.  If you cannot bring
yourself to do this, you might instead aim for the compassionate and
respectful stance that other people do not have to be subjected to your
defense of such individuals.  This will be especially true for those who
quite clearly do not hold your enthusiasm or respect for the
person/people in question.

10.  STOP paying or charging for sweatlodges RIGHT NOW!!!!

Periodically review this list to see what parts of it you're resisting or
ignoring.  Learn to take responsibility for the fact that, if you believe
you can't or won't change, then that is your free will choice rather than
a karmic or energetic meme.

Five Truths About Guides

This info is meant for the consideration of those who are prone to
wishfully thinking higher self guides are speaking when they are not
and one is, instead, listening to an aspect of the linear ego's voice.
Oftentimes it's very cleverly thrown.  You may especially wish to Heed
The [false] Messenger if you're immersed in some kind of elevated
consciousness workshop or pay-for-ceremony situation.   This seems
especially true for those who have attended and/or continue to attend
pay-to-sweat 'lodges' that are inherently corrupt because of the way
they are run.   Such folks are generally very reluctant to disengage
from the bad habit - many feel guilty or downright aggressive to think of
something they love and are fond of considering a spiritual experience
'taken away' from them.  If these remarks at ALL apply to you
(particularly if they make you angry or frightened with their
implications), please work towards the kind of courage and strength it
takes to implement lasting personal changes.

1.  Guides NEVER EVER provide information or action plans that rely
on the mis-treatment (however slight) of other people OR oneself.

2.   Guides are not self-serving or inclined towards elaborate forms of
rationalization and therefore neither is their advice.

3.   Guidance that is chronically a day late and a dollar short reflects
one's own perceptual shortcomings 'filtering' a more timely period of
illumination/message delivery OR a spiritual influence that is not divine
in nature.

4.  Guides that repeatedly tell you something you don't want to hear
may grow weary of being ignored.  You're 'getting' the same unwanted
message time after time because it's IMPORTANT.  If you stop ignoring
it,  other illuminated changes will be soon to follow.  If you learn to truly
*accept* what you asked to receive, rather than balking at the form(s)
in which it was offered, you will experience MORE rather than LESS
divine inter-action in your life.

5.   Guides are not competitive spirits.  They have no more organic
place in an inter-personal pissing contest, or running amok at 'astral
tea parties', than a hog has on the moon.
